Got My Grandpa's Hat

This is my great grandpa Sam. When I was younger, around 7 years old, the Glover family held a family BBQ every year on his land. We would switch between sides of his son's land or his own farm, the Samesa Ranch. Over 100 members of the glover family would gather  and eat and play games and of course talk. One of my best memories of my Grandpa Sam was when my family had moved back from living in Scotland that summer. We had the BBQ and I made him a card where I had traced farm animals onto the card with brightly colored pens. I had asked him what it was like to be a cowboy and have a horse. That day I would catch all the kittens hidden in the barn where the old tractors would sit. I would mostly sit and look for little frogs in the wet grass. Once I caught one I wanted to show my grandfather so I did so and I bent over to show him my frog. Then one of my great aunts took me up into the old farm house and gave me one of his old hats that he was given as an honor from the red deer county. I still remember his smile when I wore his hat as I walked up and said thank you. I still have that old hat up in my room. Whenever I see it I see him smiling in an old lawn chair with a big cow-boy hat. I miss you Grandpa Sam and I wish I was then to appreciate the work you put into the family farm.

From all of us we love you!
