We met Heather and Gord in Hamilton Ontario 42 years ago and have been friends ever since. When we got married, Heather and Gord were in our wedding party. In fact, if it hadn't been for Gord the wedding ceremony might not have taken place. I, Karen, was standing at the back of the church apparently looking like a deer caught in the headlights while my husband-to-be was at the front of the church waiting for me. Gord saw the look on my face, squeezed my arm and said " Just focus on getting to the front of the church. Once you get there, everything will be fine". He was so right! We just celebrated our 41st anniversary.
Even though they left Ontario, we managed to stay friends by sharing letters and photos. We even tolerated Gord's droll comments about Ontario and the Maple Leafs. He will be missed and we are so sorry that we are unable to be there.
Our prayers and heartfelt love go out to Heather and the rest of the family.
Gordon and Karen Ryckman
