The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gordon Birbeck can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Dear Heather, Liz and Michael, We're thinking of you with love and prayers. Of the things we'll remember the most about such a fine man was Gord's sense of humour. Thoughts of Gord always bring us a smile. I'm including the following meditation, written by Henry Scott Holland, one-time Rector of St. Paul's, London. DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL. Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you and you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way Which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed At the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name ever by the household word That it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continity. Why should I be out of mind Because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner. All is well. I hope that the reading give you some comfort. Love to you all, Michelle and Larry Cook
