The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ada Barg can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Green Beans

Many moons ago, around 1998, Ada was helping out my mother-in-law with everyday duties to enable her to stay in her own residence in the town of Vanderhoof (it worked out well for both ladies!).   We would include Ada in family dinners and  functions out here on the farm and she usually accepted with a big smile.  Being the kind and thoughtful woman she was, I had a huge abundance of greenbeans in the garden that year.   She had seen this and mentioned something about what am I going to do with ALL those beans?   I must have said something about give as many away as I could and then I suppose the frost will probably get the rest.  Are you not going to can them , she asked?     Noo, Ada, I am not!  (anyone knowing me well knows that the kitchen and I are not the best of friends!   I am a good cook but do NOT like to cook any more than I absolutely have to!)    She said, I will do them for you, Joyce......you just supply the jars.    Of course I said, nooo, it's way too much work for you and she said.......It's work but I would really love to do this for you.  Sooooo, I gave in......she even picked them.....took them to town to my mother-in-law's and the canning began.   I don't remember how many jars but there were quite a few that she had done.   She had the biggest smile on her face when I went in to pick them up but NOT bigger than my smile!!!     To this day, I cannot see a bean in our garden without thinking of Ada!   Of course I would tell her this often and you could feel the smile coming on to her face over the phone!    Ada will always hold a special place in my heart and I'm really going to miss her.
