Christmas

I had the pleasure of working and learning from Jonny as a mechanic and as a young man learning about life. Jonny was always someone I looked up to, smart as a whip, funny, always making people smile and a dedicated father, something I'm now trying to be in my own right. We worked together, he was patient and a wonderful teacher and role model. December 24, 25, 26 about 25 years ago, Jonny invited my girl friend and I for christmas.......Jonny style! We knew at that moment it would be a christmas we would never forget. It all started with a drive to to outskirts of Red Deer, a skidoo ride across the 2 foot deep snow , across the river and to an island where a man poured his heart and soul into a getaway away from all of the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday life. Lights marked the walk through the trees on our walk to camp, coupled with stories and laughter from our host and dear friend, what a funny F&^%Ker i remember thinking often, while trying to contain my own laughter. and a short walk later a little piece of heaven was before us, a round shelter easily slept 10 comfortably wood stove, solar powered, all the comforts of home with a genius twist. I have to be honest, the details from that point on are a little fuzzy. I do know at that point in my life I smiled and laughed a lot because of Jonny's persistent sense of humour and just because I was so proud to say that Jonny was my friend. Smart, Honest, and a heart of gold. Thank you Sir, I am a better human for having known you Ryan Boyd
