Condolence From: Laurel Shannon Lawson
Condolence: For many reasons that I understand, my father couldn't bring himself to tell me of Carole's passing until yesterday. I had been trying to reach her by email, post and phone to no avail. He was afraid, I think, that it would break my heart. Perhaps he was right to wait until he thought I could take the news
because you see, Carole Little was one of the best human beings to walk the earth. For those who knew Carole, you will understand why this is not an exaggeration. Carole was, for a while, my stepmother and Dad and I were immensely fortunate to have had her bright light shine on us, her sparkling eyes and her infectious giggle brighten any interaction with her. Aside from my own mother, Carole was my role model of a woman who could be ambitious in her education and her career PRIMARILY so her service to others could, and would be, the best care they could receive. I was fascinated by Carole's career and loved hearing about her work in the North as a nurse practitioner in mostly native communities and of her teaching career at the U.of A. I wish I could have seen her one more time, but I am glad we were in touch and that she knew I loved her. This is a better world because Carole Little walked the earth. I will cherish her memory and always hear her giggle echo in my ears and her smile brighten my memories. My condolences to all who loved this fabulous woman. Xo

Condolence: I met Carole very recently when she was in hospital and sharing the room of my sister, Jean. We met Barry and Shirley as they visited Carole. We admired how very caring they were with Carole. They remained quietly optimistic even when things looked very poorly. They gave comfort, love and kindness to Carole and provided all this with great thoughtfulness. Barry told me how very fortunate he felt that Carole was part of his life and had been for many years. She sounded like a remarkable person who contributed much to the world. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Condolence: Carole and I have been friends since she worked at Enoch Cree Nation. The last time we spoke about a month ago she said she was fine and taking care of family. Carole saved my life when I was very ill. That was her legacy always taking care of others tirelessly. We had our annual suppers with her, Lorraine, Frieda and Fran during the Christmas holidays. She will be missed by all the First Nation communities she provided nursing/medical services. Excellent NP. We will miss her greatly. Sorry, did not know till today of her passing. Darlene
