Obituary for Agnes Monica Murdoch (Vick)

Agnes Monica  Murdoch (Vick)
Mrs. Agnes Monica Murdoch of Diamond Valley, Alberta passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Agnes was born on January 21, 1931 at Innisfail, Alberta and was raised in the Evergreen Farming Community. As a child, Agnes attended the New Hill and Victory Schools up until grade seven; then finished her High School years in Red Deer at the St. Joseph Nunnery School. Agnes graduated in 1953 as a Registered Nurse from the Calgary Holy Cross Hospital and then worked at the Eckville Hospital until retiring in 1994. She met her husband John while growing up and the couple married in 1955. Agnes enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, golfing, and the farm life and in her spare time relaxing doing cross stitch and needle point. She was a hard working, very committed, compassionate and loving person to her family, faith, friends, and fellowship. Agnes will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John; her children, Leanne Murdoch and Barbara (David) Lindsay, all of Calgary, Alberta, Douglas (Tracy) Murdoch of Walhachin, British Columbia, Gordon Murdoch of Red Deer, Kevin (Teresa) Murdoch of Eckville, Alberta, Heather (Ken) Michael of Spruce Grove, Alberta and Robert (Laura) Murdoch of Red Deer; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by a sister, Lucy Nielsen of Red Deer and many dear friends. Agnes was predeceased by her siblings, Charlotte Davis, Robert Vick and Marie Burns. Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Evergreen Catholic Church, Evergreen, Alberta on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Les Drewicki, Celebrant. Interment followed at the Diamond Valley Cemetery, Diamond Valley, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Agnes's honor may be made directly to Doctors Without Borders at www.msf.ca.
