Peggy Ann Keating of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Peggy was born on March 10, 1929 at Lampman, Saskatchewan. She was raised and attended elementary school in Lampman, then attended High School at Sacred Heart Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. Peggy married Keith Keating on October 28, 1948. They had four children and farmed south of Lampman until Keith’s passing, August 29, 1953. Peggy worked at a number of retail establishments; including clothing and grocery stores. She eventually worked for an oil company and moved the family to Oxbow, to continue her employment. Eventually Peggy moved back to Lampman and then moved to Regina in 1968; where she worked as a bookkeeper for a number of hotels, until she retired in 1994. She moved to Red Deer, Alberta in 2008 to be closer to her daughter, and resided in Red Deer until her passing. Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Arthur (Sonja), Sandra (Garth) Gress, Myles and Mark (Jung Lok); grandchildren, Keith (Josie), Amber (Darren) Istace, Danielle, Jonathon (Dianne), and Megan (Douglas) McKendry; and twelve great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, James McGauvran, and her sisters in law, Sheila Dixon, Doreen Caines and Norma Keating; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Keith; her parents, Arthur and Hyacinth McGauvran; Patricia Fleck (Frank), Francis Leclair (Marius) and a sister-in-law, Blossom McGauvran. A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Peggy’s honor may be made directly to the charity of donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
