Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Lionel Leader can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Lionel Allen "Allen" Leader

Lionel Allen "Allen"  Leader
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Lionel ‘Allen’ Leader of Red Deer, Alberta, after a courageous, four year battle with cancer, at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Allen was born on September 2, 1939 at Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. Allen was the eldest child of five born to Jessie and Ronald Leader. He met the beautiful Ruth Shewchuk in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. They married and adopted two children; and the couple moved frequently throughout his thirty-six year career as Bank Manager for RBC. Allen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ruth Leader of Red Deer, Alberta; his son, Scott and his daughter, April; and his granddaughter, Sera Grover. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Mildred (Larry) Haw, Delbert (Gloria) Leader, Kenneth (Jean) Leader, and Donald (Freda) Leader; brother-in-law, John (Lorraine) Shewchuk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Jeffrey Rock officiating. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
