Obituary for Kenneth William Boot

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Kenneth William Boot of Red Deer, Alberta, at the Red Deer Hospice on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Ken was born on May 20, 1934 at Maidstone, Saskatchewan. Born and raised in Maidstone, Saskatchewan, Ken came to Red Deer in 1954 at the age of twenty. He met and married his wife, Marie of over fifty-six years in 1960. In his younger years, Ken lived an active life bowling, curling, and was a long standing member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He also spent many years camping at Pine Lake and across Alberta, British Columbia, and the Western United States of America, with family and friends. Following his retirement from Acklands-Grainger in 1994, Ken was actively involved with the Red Deer Bingo Centre and Cash Casino. He also spent several years volunteering with the Friends Of The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marie; son, Leslie (Marianne); and daughter, Diane (Terry); grandsons, Kyle (Tianna) and Kole; and a great granddaughter, Ivy-Rose. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Allan (Wilma); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Janet, a brother, Ellis and a sister, Dorothy. A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at the Loyal Order of Moose, 140 Petrolia Drive, Red Deer County, Alberta on Monday, May 1, 2017 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All are welcome. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
