Mr. Tony Van Der Wekken of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Tony was born on January 18, 1938 at Zierikzee, Netherlands. He was a very talented man with many gifts, one being his wood working abilities. Tony has left many wonderful and treasured pieces of furniture to his family and friends. He and his dear wife Ruth were married in 1963 and they were blessed with three children. Tony leaves to mourn his loss, his three children, Lee-Ann (Fred) Farrant, Nancy (Paul) Lindley and Brian Van Der Wekken, and four grandchildren, Amanda (Curt Hazlett) Farrant, Benjamin (Kassandra) Farrant, Alysha Lindley and Jared Lindley. Tony will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by his sisters and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth on March 16, 2014. A Memorial Service in Tony’s honor will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Tony’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
