Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jane Kuny can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Jane Elizabeth Kuny (Bretell)

Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Kuny passed away peacefully with her loving husband, Frank and daughter, Carrie Lou at her side, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the age of 77 years. Jane was born on July 18, 1939 at Timmins, Ontario. At the age of five, Jane moved to Saskatchewan, where she later met and married her High School sweetheart, Frank. Together they moved to Edmonton in 1966, to Calgary in 1984, and eventually, in 1996, the couple moved to Red Deer where they bought Sission Furs and Leather. Red Deer was where Jane finally found her home. She was involved with many community and charity organizations. Jane will be lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty-six years, Frank; children, Tracey, Darren (Sharee) and Carrie Lou (Lyle) Scoble; grandchildren, Telisha, Braden, Patrick and Benjamin. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Donna and Louise Bretell; sister-in-law, Bert Bretell; her extended family and many dear friends. Jane was predeceased by a son, Stephen; parents, Alouiscious and Ruth Bretell; sister, Doris; and brothers, Larry and Gerry. Special thanks to the staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Palliative Care Unit 32, for their exceptional care of Jane during her final days. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Len Cadieux, celebrant. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Jane’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Lending Cupboard at www.lendingcupboard.ca, or to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta at www.alzheimer.ca.
