Obituary for Leo Unreiner

Leo Unreiner
Mr. Leo Unreiner of Penhold, Alberta, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the age of 81 years. Leo was born on March 29, 1933 at Schuler, Alberta, on his parent’s farm. Dad was a farmer in Schuler and then moved to Alix, Alberta, where his family had a Dairy Farm. He then moved to Rimbey, Alberta to raise his family and had a Mixed Farm. In the mid 1990’s he left Rimbey and settled down in Penhold, Alberta. Dad worked for Oilfield Companies, C.P. Rail and also drove school bus, as well as helping out the area farmers. He loved to fish, hunt, dance, play crib, scrabble, solitaire and crossword puzzles. Dad loved singing along with Wilf Carter and enjoyed playing banjo and guitar. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michelle (Stacey) Schneider of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Cynthia (Mike) McLeod of Airdrie, Alberta, Douglas (Deana) and Dwayne (Leanna) both of Red Deer and nine grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his four brothers, Anthony (Ann), Edward (Eva), Ben (Caroline) and Denis (Geraldine) and a sister, Mary (Jim) Clegg, all of Medicine Hat, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Rose Unreiner. Relatives and friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer on Saturday, April 19, 2014 between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Jozef Wroblewski, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery, Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
